It's not just about Twilight and True Blood...
My affair with vampires began with Gary Oldman's version of Bramstoker's Dracula back in the 90s... This was followed by my love of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles - fantastically amazing books, my favourite being The Queen of the Damned... Sadly these chronicles have now ended. Gutted in fact. While I was reading the Vampire Chronicles (many many times now) I also read the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley. An absolutely brilliant vampire series but not quite the romance and eroticism that I like... Then came Elizabeth Kostova's The Historian. Amazing. Brilliant book. I have only read it once, am feeling the need to revist it shortly - can't even remember if there's any romance in it, just remember an overwhelming sense of brilliance from it. And then the next thing I knew, my eldest sister Kirsty mentioned the Twilight series of books - I actually saw the movie before I read any of the books! Watched it on the 19th December in Salisbury then the book from my other sister Heidi for Christmas. Oh. My. God. Love at first read. I also received Dead Until Dark from my sister Kirsty (we share an affinity with Vampires) as she knew I would love the Sookie Stackhouse novels... It took ages for me to get round to reading this book - in fact, I had to watch the entire first series before I even entertained the novel!! Now, three quarters of the way through the second series of True Blood, the rest of the Sookie Stackhouse books are winging their way through the post to me and I simply can't wait!! Will post my thoughts on these books as and when I read them... I love anything to do with vampires, well, attractive vampires, I mean... VampQueen78 xxx
